USA Today's Brian Mansfield has an update on the progress of Danny Gokey's debut album.
Most notably, Danny told Brian this morning that he plans to finish recording the tracks for his album this week. "Today, then Saturday, and I'm done...From that point, it's all overdubs," Danny said at Nashville's Starstruck Studios.
So far four tracks have reportedly been finished and mixed, including "It's Only," "My Best Days Are Ahead Of Me," "Tiny Life" and "I Still Believe."
And, while Danny's album will contain several inspirational ballads, Mansfield warns that there is much more to Danny's style than just that one type of music. In fact, a song called "Crazy Not To" is reportedly a country-pop song! Danny said, "I need songs that will make you think. All of the human emotions that I have, I want to portray those on my CD. Love songs, the whole deal. It's a journey. The way I look at it is, from the picture to the credits, I want people to feel what I felt in the studio. Obviously, I'm a person who is driven by message, so I have that in there."
Should we expect any original songs on Danny's album? Not this time around. Danny said he offered his services, but the label "politely declined." Danny said, "I walked away kind of pouting, because they said there was no time, and I went, 'Come on.' But, honestly, they were so right. They were so right. There was no time. I'm glad I didn't, because it would have been a mess."
Mansfield reports that an exact release date and an album title are still being finalized.
